Nicolai is a young fire Draken who dreams of changing his element to ice. While there is a potion that can do just that, a previous incident during his youth has made retrieving one a tad difficult. And his discomfort with his element has only worsened as he matured. Especially once his third eye gem came in—a direct link to his fire abilities. While he’s tried to earn money for a new potion, his difficulty focusing or retaining information, his recent bouts of depression, and at one point being literally kidnapped by otherworldly spirits, has made keeping a job…easier said than done. Nevertheless, Nico keeps up his smile and does his best to be friendly and personable with his fellow Finley, and enjoys making friends with anyone and everyone in his beloved home town of Whistler Crest.
Nico's housemaster--and personal rolemodel--Blaise, has been an encouraging presence to the young draken ever since his fallout with his former childhood friend Thea, and is often the first finley he talks to when he needs advice. Nico has even come to see him as an older brother, though he'd never admit it to the housemaster's face.
