Lesser Snowbird
Single: Snowbird | Plural: Snowbirds
Young: Flakes
Group: Powder
Lesser Snowbirds, or simply Snowbirds, are small white birds with antlers found on the island of Xaaida. They are a migratory bird, wintering in Xaaida during the dark year. They’re a common sight to see in the winter months and especially in the snow. You’ll often spot them hidden amongst bare trees, their antlers looking like twigs peaking out from snow drifts, or huddled together in powders looking like little snowmen dotting the white landscape. When you hear a bright series of three chirps rising above the snow covered pines, you know you’re hearing a Lesser Snowbird.

Diet
Lesser Snowbirds feed on seeds, berries, and insects they can find during the cold months. They often will stash the berries and seeds they can find during late autumn in holes, allowing them to find them again during the winter.
Breeding
Early autumn is when Lesser Snowbirds begin to court and nest. Male Snowbirds will court females by bringing them smooth stones, from which the female will pick her favorite, and thus her mate. Xaaida is where they lay their eggs, in mid to late fall. Snowbirds lay 3 eggs at a time, in nests built of twigs, pine, and hidden in the bare branches of the trees.
