Dragoodle

Single: Dragoodle | Plural: Dragoodles
Young: Kid
Group: Miasma

Dragoodles are unique creatures originating further north in Kladeon. They are a recently tamed and domesticated species, and few cities have a domesticated population of them. Usually found in plains or forests, they live alone or in small groups or “miasmas” of 2-7 adults. Dragoodles are carnivores and have unique magical abilities to aid in their hunts. Although potentially dangerous, willful, and occasionally temperamental creatures, with patience and perseverance, Dragoodles can be befriended. A Dragoodle who has been befriended makes a loyal partner and an excellent mount, perfect for an adventurer who may need a strong animal companion. They are also occasionally used for show in larger cities, with focus on their vibrant gradients, horns, and magical skills.

Diet

Dragoodles are carnivores, preying on small or medium creatures to creatures as large as themselves. When they are hunting alone, they will go after creatures ranging from small to medium, such as Boodoos or Csirkatrice. When they hunt in miasmas however, Dragoodles will take on larger creatures, from Groinks to animals as big as themselves. Occasionally they have also been seen eating insects.

Breeding

Dragoodles give birth in the spring, and mate for only a season. They give birth to live young, usually having 1 to 3 kids. Kids are weaned off of milk and eating meat by six weeks, reaching their adult size in just a year and full maturity in two years.

Abilities

Dragoodles are equipped with strong front claws and bite which can be dangerous enough on its own for prey, but that isn’t the only tool at their disposal. Each Dragoodle has pouches on their cheeks that collect mana from the air and converts said mana in their mouth to spit magic. Each individual has this mana manifest into one of five different types of magic: acid, sticky, fire, water, and ice. This magic can be used both for attacking and defense, and Dragoodles will use this magic while hunting to injure or kill the prey they are chasing. Their magic can cause up to tier 2 harm, not enough to kill but enough to injure and slow down what they are chasing. Dragoodles’ speed and this magical ability are what make them valuable mounts, especially for adventurers.
It’s rumored that if a Dragoodle and a finley have a particularly strong bond, their Dragoodle has been seen spitting and even breathing a mist of the finley’s own type of magic. These rumors have not been confirmed however, and remain to just be myths.
