Voi Flugoulved
Level of Severity: Tier 5
Susceptible Species: Draken, Nyulop, Astralit
Susceptible Ages: All Ages
Signs and Symptoms
Voi Flugoulved, or otherwise known as just Voi, is a rather odd sickness. Original contraction is gained through bites from certain small hopping insects or from the spit of a wild or unvaccinated Harlequin Imp. This illness lies dormant for a day or two after contraction.
Infected finley sing beautifully as loud as possible, dancing uncontrollably and sweeping any bystanders up in their frenzy. Their limbs move without their input, leading to sleep exhausted finley dancing around sloppily like zombies, voices raspy and bloody from hours and hours of song and laughter.
They dance and sing until they collapse from their muscles giving out and they physically cannot make noise from their damaged vocal cords. At this stage, they lay twitching on the ground until they are helped by an uncontaminated finley, and given the cure.
Sickness travels rapidly through communities, spread through the air through the uncontrollable songs spouted by the infected, and coming in contact with the sweat of the infected. Contamination can only be avoided by isolating the infected and wearing several masks to filter your air.
Progression
Symptoms start mild at the end of day two, with restless legs, and an urge to laugh, or sing. These first symptoms are dismissable, and can easily be controlled.
Around day four, the restless legs start to become jerky. Walking turns to skipping, or grandiose sweeping dance moves. Laughter and song blurt out without control, and behavior starts to become erratic and frenzied as the infected realizes they cant stop what theyre doing. Around this time is when eating and drinking involuntarily cease.
Days 5-6 are when the disease kicks in fully and the infected finley becomes a walking contaminant. Being exposed directly to their song or to be touched by sweat from one is a guarantee of infection, and you must take the cure as soon as physically possible
Days 6-9 are when the body starts to give out from sheer exhaustion, and collapse and muscle failure from nonstop vigous dancing are imminent. Voices are usually gone at this point and the need for help is dire, as infected do not eat or drink. Those who wander far from civilization while infected and collapse far from help usually do not make it.
Days 10-12 are when the infected are usually beyond helping. their bodies are twitching and unresponsive, and the infected have lost consciousness completely. The cure given at this point has about a 50/50 chance of working properly, and if it works, the patient remains in a comatose state for an undetermined amount of time as their body recovers. if it dosent work….the finley dies from malnutrition and dehydration
Curing
The only cure for Voi is the bitter fluid of a grown Mysela Stalk, mixed with pulverized Zingy Berries and the sticky sap of a Fancy Collar Shroom all mixed into a medicinal tea.
