Siren's Final Stand

Posted 5 days and 11 hours ago :: Last edited 5 days and 1 hour ago by OmbraniWolf

The Siren's Final Stand

The Siren of Xaaida latched onto the shoulder of the Nyulop who faced her, teeth rotating and grinding the flesh. The unfortunate Nyulop howled, swinging their blade wildly but failing. A second, a Draken, rushed to the Nyulop’s aid, but was batted away by a length of the beast’s tail. A third, another Nyulop, managed to sink their blade into the Siren’s skin, a bright blue blood leaking out. The creature released the Islander she had tried to consume, but moved quick, far too quick as the mist surrounded her. In a blink, she teleported, once, twice, then was on the offending Nyulop.
She was greatly worn down from the battle, open wounds pouring blood onto the snow. But it seemed she was determined to fight until her very last breath. The more she was attacked, the harder she fought, and the angrier she became. Fighters were wearing down, injured, battered, confused. So many lay bleeding, trying to fight on despite their injuries. Blue mist swirled at their feet, turning left to right, up to down.
The Siren sank her teeth into the arm of the Nyulop who had tried to save their friend, ripping into bone with a sickening crunch.
But despite their injuries, the Islanders were winning. Every attack the siren made was returned with equal ferocity.
They were making their final stand.
Fighters clashed with the weakening Siren. The Siren strikes desperately, shrieking as she realizes her time is limited. Daggers and arrows find their mark, and the Siren’s teeth sink into fewer prey. You are going to kill her. Her death is assured.
The Siren grows more frantic, more aggressive, before there’s a shift in her behavior.

She begins to try to flee, and she is good at escaping.

Arrows loose from their strings, and fighters turn blasts of magic on the very beast who had taught them. The monster is littered with arrows, blood pooling on the ground behind her. But she is managing to use her mist effectively, appearing in different locations and turning fighters around. Not enough blows are hitting their mark. Will she escape? Will you fail to slay her after all of this effort?

Blue mist and white snow swirl softly at first, then quickly. The haze suddenly dissipates, blown back from where fighters stand. A noise echoes around them, sounding closer to a flute than a roar. Nyulop, Draken, and Astralit alike glance around warily, wondering if another foe has come to face them.

A head with a pointed beak appears from the clouds, followed by a long, serpentine body. Multiple powerful wings beat the air, blowing away blinding gusts of snow. Fighters shield their faces, but stare at the creature that now hovers over the mountain’s peak.

Cintwe_shrine_fullbody_standalone.png

Alongside the guardian, a flock of large birds swoop down, silhouettes resembling the Wraithels that have plagued the mountain.

Phantomere_main.png

As they approach, their round faces appear closer to the Guardian’s, however. Some birds carry reinforcements on their backs. The islander’s Elders, and a few reinforcements have made it up the mountain.

Not long ago…
The two villages, led by the Elders, sang songs and danced, calling to the winds amongst the frigid storm. Songs of determination, of safety. Kizis stood at the front of it all, directing the ritual. As her voice rose above the winds, a loud screech from above accompanied her. The Islanders looked up in shock to see a large bird with horns emitting a pink smoke, swooping down from the clouds. The creature landed in front of Xaaida’s leader, and for a long moment, the Islanders were on edge. Was this success? Or was this another foe?
But Kizis smiled knowingly, and Vahk’asha spoke. This was a messenger from Cíntwe.
A dozen more birds swooped down: the Phantomeres. Kizis called to any Islander who felt capable enough to join the fight to hop onto a Phantom.

Cíntwe shrieks, and the magical exhaustion and haze the fighters feel fades. You feel more energized.
The Siren tries to flee down the mountainside as Cíntwe appears.
The Guardian doesn’t let her.
Cintwe is faster and larger, flying at the siren and pinning her as she thrashes beneath them. The guardian opens their beak, letting loose an ear-splitting sonic wave. The sound waves hit the Siren and send a blast of snow into the air, the beast wailing. The fighters shield their faces as wind buffets them, nearly blowing them off their feet.
When it clears, the Siren’s body lays on the snow, the Guardian’s blast being more than enough to fell the dying beast. Cíntwe floats back into the air, and as you watch, the Siren melts into a puddle of blue powder. The only thing that remains is a blue woolen shawl resting on the snow.

For the first time in many months, the snow stops falling and the clouds break, allowing a small bit of sun to shine on the Island of Xaaida.

The battle is settled, but there is much to discuss…

As the reinforcements led by Saila tend to the wounded, you and a few other fighters approach Vahk’asha and Kizis.

vahkasha_consider.png
“This was no ordinary Siren.”

vahkasha_focus.png
“It was far more powerful than most others of its species; powerful enough to spread its charm to almost everyone in the villages and influence everyone’s memories of itself, this mountain, even Cíntwe’s presence.”

kizis_consider.png
“I remember now… Years ago, there was a Siren that attacked the East Isle village. The warriors at the time drove it back and I had believed it to be dead. The head warrior had delivered what he believed to be a killing blow himself…”

Cíntwe moves between the two Elders, hovering their head over your gathering. For a moment, Vahk’asha looks up at the Spirit, and he nods in quiet understanding, as if words were exchanged you couldn’t hear.

vahkasha_neutral.png

“It went into hiding.”

“Since it made its home on Windsong Mountain, Cíntwe was able to keep it sealed and weakened. If it ever grew strong enough to try anything, Cíntwe and their flock could finish it off. But…”

vahkasha_focus.png
“Something disrupted Cíntwe.”

This worries you. Something disrupted a Guardian Spirit?

vahkasha_focus.png
“With Cíntwe disrupted, that was the moment the Siren could strike. It destroyed the shrine, sealed the stones...”

He looks at the rubble of what used to be a shrine, and the circle of newly thawed stones surrounding it.

vahkasha_consider.png
“Then, it consumed a final pilgrimage taker to gather the power to start a blizzard. The blizzard has also unsettled Guinevere… With both of them prevented from interfering, the Siren could move freely.”

A few of the less injured fighters rush toward your gathered group, anxieties written on their faces. “Elders!” One speaks, out of breath. “We can’t find Teles anywhere! We thought when the blizzard cleared we would be able to help her- but she’s gone!”
Vahk’asha turns to the newcomers.

vahkasha_focus.png
“Do you remember the story I told of the child that led warriors into the forest before a monster attacked them?”

The worried Islanders shake their heads and Vahk’asha sighs. He doesn’t look angry, just sad.

vahkasha_neutral.png
“Teles appeared when the blizzard began… That form was always a ruse.”

The Islanders look shocked and Vahk’asha continues.

vahkasha_consider.png
“It seems her plan was to feed off of the mana of the Islanders and gather the power to keep the blizzard going. Consuming our mana allowed her to bolster her health and made her more powerful.”

vahkasha_focus.png
“And her final plan was to lead this large group up here to eat them…”

Vahk’asha closes his eyes before looking at you and those who were worried.

vahkasha_dread.png
“You have a kind heart. I’m sorry the monster took advantage of it. The Teles you knew was a lie.”

The Lorekeeper’s gaze travels to the blue, sunny skies stretching across Xaaida.

vahkasha_neutral.png
“I’m grateful you all have survived.”

The Islanders who had gathered around the Elders had dispersed, gathering with their friends and family. Some are celebrating, some are sitting quietly. It has been a long few months for everyone.
The rest of the Elders approach Kizis and Vahk’asha.

Lasia scowls at the spot where the Siren had fallen.

lasia_serious.png
“These disturbances are so bad that we’re havin’ monsters attacking the Island.”

Vahk’asha nods.

vahkasha_neutral.png
“We need to do something about this.”

kizis_serious.png
“Perhaps it is time…”

The Islanders Have Won Their Battle...

With the conclusion of this journey, there are plenty of rewards for those who have participated, and new content for everyone!

First, for all who participated in the Siren boss battle...

Cíntwe seems to regard those who helped resummon them and cleaned their statues positively.
For those who have completed these prompts, it seems like they might turn a blind eye towards the fact you climbed the mountain in a group, and perhaps may bless you if you helped as much as you were able.
For each of these three prompts, you may submit one each to Cíntwe’s pilgrimage.
Expedition Windsong Mountain Monster and A Mysterious Find may both be submitted to count for either Step 1 or Step 2. (One step per image)
A fight image for the Siren that did at least 6 damage may be submitted as Step 3.
When submitting these images to the pilgrimage prompt, be sure to link this newspost and state which step you’re substituting the image for.
Any steps that remain may be completed as normal OR…

For those who have climbed the mountain, Vahk’asha approaches you and suggests that you could help rebuild Cíntwe’s shrine

View the prompt here!

As everyone is preparing to descend the mountain, something catches your Islander’s eye. Laying on the ground where the Siren had vanished is the blue shawl of Teles. Picking it up, you run your palm over the woven fibers, feeling a faint enchantment on it. If you were to sling it over your shoulders, you feel as if it would prevent you from being affected by the cold as much as usual.

bui11Oh5hB528-image.png

You can put in a claim for this item. It is one item per user who participated in the Siren boss battle.

The Siren was overkilled! The health total as of this newspost was -51 HP!

There may be overkill rewards coming in the next few weeks, as we did not expect this to happen! Keep an eye out for an update on this. Good work Islanders!

Secondly, for everyone…

Two new pilgrimages have been released for the Islanders.

First up is Guinevere. They are the Guardian of the ocean who had been unsettled by the same disturbance that had disrupted Cíntwe. While the blizzard was active, no one could reach their shrine either! However, with the snow freshly melted, the Guardian has become active and interacting with the Islanders again.
View her page here

Guinevere_main.png
Cintwe_fullbody.png

Secondly is Cíntwe. They are the Guardian of the wind and recently freed. With them comes a new bond for the Islanders: the Phantomeres! They are tied to Cíntwe and require interaction with the spirit, so read the pilgrimage page to see how to obtain one! Now that the shrine has been rebuilt, and the Guardian returned, Cintwe has become active and pilgrimages can be taken to them.
View their page here

An additional minor change: the Wraithel page has been updated with the conclusion of this event and the release of the Phantomeres.

Hello Crestians, welcome back to another edition of The Flowering Star!

This month brings a whole load of Quality of life updates! We've been hard at work revamping multiple systems;

First up, the EXP Guide! Writing EXP has been overhauled, and criteria for multiple things, such as backgrounds, has been updated! We heavily recommend you review and familiarise yourselves with the new criteria.

The Injury Guide has also received a major overhaul! Age and time requirements for all injuries excluding death have been removed, and the wording has been updated to be more concise and provide more examples! A whole new scarring tier has also been added.

Nyulop Magic has also been revamped! Skills that previously did nothing have now been given a function, and Majoring and Minoring has also been updated!
Currently, your tiers have simply been adjusted to the new tier numbers and descriptions, and you can continue your learning as normal. However, we would like your feedback on whether you would prefer to keep your tiers as they are or have the ability to reorder them in the future.

We’ve also created a brand new Universal Pet MYO Guide! This details all the general rules for getting pets approved, and has their written templates all neatly aligned in one place!

Finally, for the guide updates at least, a brand new in-depth Trait Guide has been created!

The Daily Wheel is also having its output reduced, the first of many adjustments to hopefully address some economic issues within the group! Stay tuned for some more ways to use up your spare capella!

Networking Meeting

Posted 3 weeks and 3 days ago :: Last edited 3 weeks and 3 days ago by OmbraniWolf

The Council assembles, the leaders of the expeditions lined up in the front. One by one, Vac, Rhael and Audley, Blaise, Swift, and Kavalan all share their findings on the towns their groups have spent the last two months exploring.

swift_considering.png
"So, at least three of the towns are populated, but have seen few signs of Hollow."

93-Neutral-image.png
"The most they’ve seen is the strange Fae Spirit appearances."

93-Considering-image.png
"It’s disturbing that the Fae are visible to non-Spiritualists."

blaise_happy.png
"I’m glad we got through to Yew’s Bend in the end! I was worried they’d never talk to us!"

45-Considering-image.png
"Our biggest worry is Deptsford and New Haven. Hollow has already hit them."

43-Dread-image.png
"You’re sure about that?"

45-Dread-image.png
"Saw the aftermath with my own eyes."

vortea_neutral.png
"..."

vortea_neutral.png
"It’s time to tell the town."

hyndrel_neutral.png
"I agree."

swift_neutral.png
"We should keep looking right?"

vortea_neutral.png
"Yes. We’ll organize another team to keep on their trail."

vortea_sad.png
"With Deptsford and New Haven, we have the beginning of a path. We should search the areas close to them."

43-Serious-image.png
" … What about the message we received from Vahk’asha?"

A few months ago, Atmos arrived and headed straight for the Mayors. With him, he held a letter, inscribed with careful writing.

To those who lead the town,
My hope is this letter finds you in time. I am Vahk’asha, Elder of Xaaida. I have foreseen something that spells disaster for us all. A Voidsent will escape his containment, steal the body of one of your own, and walk this world freed. I urge you to guard the seal closely.
I can only hope this warning reaches you.
-Vahk’asha.

hyndrel_neutral.png
"We’ll try to write a response to send with Atmos’ return there. If they are allies, it could be worth informing them of Hollow’s escape. And we will inform the town of this too."

A day later, the town of Whistler Crest gathers for a meeting in front of the town hall.

Hyndrel steps up, carefully explaining to the town the true purpose of the expeditions: the Skcirt brothers and the ghosts have somehow escaped from their sealed prisons, with the help of a voidsent named Hollow. Fearful whispers quickly rise in volume. Hyndrel continues, firmly assuring the nervous townsfolk that The Council, Town Guard, and Spiritualists will be working in tandem to keep the town safe in these times. The Town Guard will continue to be on high alert, while the Spiritualists will continue running their classes on how to make warding charms to deal with the unruly fae, and to fend off any other malicious spirits. They announce that the strongest team of council members - Vortea, Swift, and Kavalan - will continue gathering information as well as to monitor and track Hollow & Co.

This information was delayed, not because the Council intended to hide the problem, but in order to gather as much information as possible. Further meetings will be held to keep the town up to date as the situation develops, and everyone should remain calm.

The Expedition Leads then give their reports to the townsfolk on what was discovered in the towns. They talk of friendly South Warren, wary Yew's Bend, and the hardworking folks of Silverkeep. New Haven and Deptsford appear to have been abandoned, and while they suspect it is due to the void's influence, they do not believe it happened recently.

Honey brings the good news, accompanied by the Guardian Spirit Atmos: Atmos has brought word of a faraway ally, who has also been affected by the imbalance of energies in the world. The Island of Xaaida, she calls them, and reveals that this is where Atmos migrates to during the Dark Year. Whistler Crest will send a return letter to Xaaida when Atmos migrates back, sharing what has happened with Hollow and Co.

It is imperative that Hollow is found, and dealt with accordingly.

An Unexpected Turn

. . .

WC-Expedition_Windsongs_Peak.png

It has been a long, difficult journey, but at last, you have made it to the peak of Windsong Mountain. As you crest the top, Teles rushes forward through the snow, able to move a little faster as, somehow, you no longer have to trudge through powder up to your thighs. She stands amongst the whipping winds, looking around at the worn stones peaking from the drifts.

teles_determined_l.png

"This is the spot I saw!"

She calls back to the rest of you as you move to catch up. She steps forward between two of the stones, placing a paw on them as she looks around.

teles_surprised_l.png

"There’s nothing here… No monster…"

Her voice is getting harder to hear, and her form harder to see as the winds begin to howl. You have to shield your eyes as the flakes whip across your vision.

teles_happy_l.png

"That’s good…"

Her voice echoes back to you, and the squall’s strength grows, leaving the peak in front of you a bitterly cold sea of white. You can barely see a few feet in front of you. Your party tries to move to where you saw Teles, to find her again in the blizzard. But as you make it to where she stood, you find nothing.

As you stand, looking frantically for Teles, you hear something moving in the snow. Squinting through the flurry, you see a blue glow above you. A head lowers down in front of you, a glowing blue mouth full of rows and rows of sharp teeth, and no eyes. The snows calm for just a moment, and the large serpentine form becomes clear in front of you as the pale beast lets out an ear piercing shriek.

WC-Siren_Emerged.png

Face the Monster

A thousand snowflakes, a blinding flurry.
A cold blue glow, a confounding fog.
A tall mountain’s peak, a lonely shrine.
A monster, a group of brave Xaaidans.
A fight lost, a grave.
Vahk’asha’s eyes flew open.

His Ikka looked at him worriedly, nudging him gently as he broke out of his meditation. His gaze traveled to the mountain range, settling on the spot of Windsong Mountain.
Quickly, he rushed to Kizis and the rest of the Elders.
When he spoke to the Elders, their memories seemed hazy. They recalled someone gathering a group to take a pilgrimage to Zuggabug perhaps. It was someone non-descript; so unmemorable that they struggled to recall. At least it seemed that way? And now that they discussed it, they hadn’t seen that group come back.
Vahk’asha told them what they must do.
Cíntwe had been dormant for too long, and now he knew why. But they could prevent this tragedy.

The Elders stand before a hastily gathered meeting in the East Isle Village. Adults and kids alike stand amongst the crowd, worriedly looking at their Elders.
Kizis explains that a group of Xaaidans has been tricked and led up Windsong Mountain by a monster. She tells the Islanders that there would be no time to make it up the mountain to help them directly, but that there is something those at home can do to help.
Vahk’asha steps forward, informing the crowd of the guardian Cíntwe. They were the Wind Guardian of the Island. He knew that the Islanders had heard of them, but knows that their memories of Cíntwe may be hazy right now, thanks to the Siren. Cíntwe could help, but they would have to call them. Cíntwe responded to song and dance.
They could help those on the mountain, before tragedy befell them.

Summon the Winds

A Mysterious Find

Posted 1 month and 1 week ago :: Last edited 1 month and 1 week ago by OmbraniWolf

As you trudge through the layers of snow forming a thick, frigid blanket over the mountain, you find yourself falling a bit behind the group. They’re forging a straight path, but you’ve drifted off to the side. Perhaps intentional, perhaps not, but you’re far enough away now that you may have to run to catch up. As you’re steeling yourself to do so, your foot catches something deep in the snow and you fall face first into the cold powder.

Recovering from your stumble, you look to see what caused it. A roughened but clearly carved stone surface. You dig through the snow to uncover it and discover what it is: the head of a statue. It appears to be a serpentine head, one you haven’t seen before, and as you uncover more of it, it appears to be a spirit.

You have a moment before you should catch up with the rest of the expedition- you can clean it up if you so choose."

July 2026 Newsletter

Hello Crestians, welcome back to another edition of The Flowering Star!

First up, Art Fight!
This is a reminder that you may upload and use your Whistler Crest characters in ArtFight. You may also claim EXP for ArtFight submissions that include your Whistler Crest characters! This is a great way to participate in ArtFight as well as any expeditions or events you wanted to tackle this month!

Also, there are a couple small mechanical changes that occured over the previous month that were already announced on Discord but worth mentioning here.

Firstly, a bunch of upgrades have finished their transition from either rarity or standard to seasonal. You can view the current list here!
With this change, many of the upgrades have gained an application level or the rules have changed (such as Equinox Antlers now being applicable to babies!) so be sure to check the new rules on any upgrade you were wanting to apply. Remember that these upgrades can only be applied when it's that specific season on site!
Additionally, the upgrade Sugary Sprinkles has become a birthday upgrade!

Secondly, all species' magic now has the option of writing requirements! If you wanted to tackle magic, but didn't want to draw, you may instead fulfill a tier of magic with writing instead of art! This was received fairly well with the prompt "Teaching Teles Magic" and was thus implemented to standard magic learning. Additionally, magic learning cooldowns now begin on submission of an image, not approval as it was previously.
You may view the requirements for fulfilling magic with writing on the respective species pages:
Nyulop
Draken
Astralit

Finally, there is a whole bunch of new pogs for you to collect! You can view the newest ones here!

Reminder that the expedition "Networking" ends on July 31st 23:59 site time, while the expedition "Windsong Mountain Monster" ends on July 20th 23:59 site time.

It's the end of June, and the Ssaels have started to dissapear from the skies. It seems their migration is over, and with that, many Finley have begun packing up the stalls and decorations for the Starsail Festival.

Amidst the masses, a lone Nyulop makes their way trough the crowd, walking besides their mount-pulled cart.

65-Happy-image.png

"Hey there! You’re back early, just in time to join the festivities!"

65-Unsure-image.png

"Ah you don’t look- great?"

45-Unsure-image.png

"It’s been a long trip, and not a good one either. The town we went to was abandoned, by the looks of it recently. All kinds of weird stuff going on over there, too."

Vac glances around, noticing the curious looks of the people wandering the streets. The Finley of Whistler Crest had started cleaning up after Starsail, and many had noticed Vac's return, trying to eavesdrop on the conversation.

45-Neutral-image.png

"It might be best to discuss this some other time. Wouldn’t want to cause... Speculation."

65-Unsure-image.png

"Ah, right! Want me to help you unpack?"

The two walk off into the streets. In the distance, you can hear Typhoon excitedly telling Vac about all the cool pogs he earned during Starsail. Most curious onlooker carry on with their buisness. It doesn't seem like the conversation is going back to anything interesting anytime soon.

65-Happy-image.png

"It seems Starsail will be extended a bit this year! With many of our friends returning from expeditions, it’d be a shame for them to have missed out on all the fun! The stalls will be switched up a bit- those of us who have been running stalls all month deserve a rest after all!"

65-Excited-image.png

"And, to keep everyone’s spirits high, I’ve been given permission to run another pogcon! It’ll be much smaller this year, but stop by the Pogcon Stall for some exclusive goodies!"

65-Neutral-image.png

"The pet stall has also had a restock. Some of our friends have been returning from their expeditions, and they have been so kind to bring with them a few pets that are in need of a new home!"

91-Unsure-image.png

"It seems like some of the local Fae have gotten a bit…"

91-Considering-image.png

"Mischievous?"

91-Excited-image.png

"We’ve decided to set up a little stall to help you guys keep them out of trouble! We’ll be teaching anyone interested how to make glyphs and charms to ward against and dispel any troublesome Fae! Feel free to stop by!"

Starsail upgrades

For this extension to Starsail, upgrades will work the same as they did last month.

Each user may earn 4 of any Starsail upgrades by submitting any valid submission to one of the Starsail prompts.
  • These upgrades are seperate from last month's. You may apply 4 additional upgrades, for 8 total. You may apply the same upgrade twice, once with a June application and once with a July application.
  • You may apply most upgrades that states “Occasionally available as a reward from the Starsail event”, with exceptions listed below.
  • You may not apply upgrades that don’t have this line but have been previously rewarded for Starsail.
  • You may not apply upgrades that are rewards for specific stalls, or specific interactions, like Joyful Marks or Nebulocks; these must still be won/obtained from their respective activities.
  • Each upgrade may only be applied once per user.
Some additional clarifcation for last month's upgrades as well
  • These upgrades can not be applied to islanders.
  • One upgrade is earned per event piece.

New upgrades

Some Finley that have participated in the Starsail stalls seem to be sporting some new upgrades.

Vac and Typhoon gather with the rest of the Council, with Vac carrying news of the expedition thus far…
The Spring House leader stood before the quickly gathered Council, a serious expression on her face.
“What did you find in the villages?” Vortea spoke first, watching Vac intently.
“From what I saw in Deptsford and what Rhael and Audley told me on my way back… Both towns are completely empty.”
“As in… Everyone fled?” Tobias’ voice was hesitant, as if he knew what the other option was.
Vac shook her head. “They’re all… gone. There’s traces that there were once Finley living there, but it’s like everyone disappeared where they stood.”
An unsettled quiet fell over the room.
Both towns had their residents voided.
That was the only explanation.
“It’s already started,”Vortea muttered. “We need to gather whatever information we can from the other three towns. Someone has to have seen something.” Her claws dug into the table, as if she was trying to make an effort to remain calm.
Vac nodded. “Understood. I’ll pass the message on to the others. That is all I personally have to report so far.”
“Thank you for your work, Vac,” Hyndrel spoke, turning to Vortea. She stood suddenly, ushering Tobias along with her.
“We need to work on figuring out a path. Thank you Vac.”
The unsettled museum keeper quickly followed Vortea as the rest of the Council discussed what they would do next in hushed voices…
As the first month of the Networking Expedition has concluded, our Guild has learned new information about the towns.

You can view all of the new information that the Expeditioners have gathered about the towns on the respective town pages.

Additionally, the information of the towns will update one more time before this event ends. If you would like to draw multiple images for the expedition, you may now draw up to two separate entries in total for the Expedition to claim the rewards for the specific towns twice.

With that, we've reached the end of our Newsletter! See you next month!

Please remember that some stuff has to be unhidden by staff manually! Please be patient in the next day(s) while staff works on toggling everything!

To start off, we are introducing a new system for Expeditions!

As there is an influx of Expeditions this month (and in the near future) we have reworked the Expedition requirements and rewards.
Firstly, many Expedition image background requirements have been lowered. Now, at most you will need to complete a medium background, with a simple background being possible at some team sizes.
Secondly, Expeditions will now function on a scaled requirement and reward system based on the number of members in your party. Although before requirements scaled depending on your team size, soloists had the highest requirements. The new system is as follows:

  • If you are running an Expedition solo, you must complete 1 image or the equivalent by the end of the expedition.
  • If you are running an Expedition as duos, or a team of two, your team must complete 2 images (one per user) or the equivalent by the end of the expedition.
  • If you are running an Expedition as trios, or a team of three, your team must complete 3 images (one per user) or the equivalent by the end of the expedition.
  • If you are running an Expedition as a squad, or a team of four, your team must complete 4 images (one per user) or the equivalent by the end of the expedition.

The rewards also will scale based on team size.

  • Soloists receive 50 EXP and 5 Capella.
  • Duos receive 100 EXP and 10 Capella.
  • Trios receive 150 EXP and 15 Capella.
  • Squads receive 200 EXP and 20 Capella.

The full list of Expedition requirements and rules, as well as alternative options such as writing, comics, and collaborations can be found on the Swift’s Guild page HERE.

"It is of great importance that we investigate thoroughly. Report to your leaders anything at all you see or hear that falls into any of these categories."
"We don't know what causes these things yet, but with luck, we'll find out."

Atlas
Atlas' wash clash has concluded!

Hey everyone! It seems we’ve reached the end of our class together. I hope you enjoyed your time! I’ve seen many creative and varied washes that everyone has made over the weeks and I must say I’m impressed. In fact, I’ve seen a few washes I think would be perfect to add to the shop.

Here are the newest user-made additions to the wash stock!

These new washes can be found on the site and can be bought from Atlas in the future.

Of course, the designers of these washes will each get one of the wash that they designed for free, as a little thank you! A member of staff will send you this item shortly after this news post.

Thanks to everyone's wonderful creations inspiration has struck Atlas. He is now stocking the following washes of his own creation, including washes based on the Seasonal Houses that can be found in the Seasonal House supply shop!

Click here to view a list of all newly released washes!

New upgrades have started appearing on those who have completed a wash class!

Additionally, existing wash class upgrades will also be moved to the "quest" rarity, to differentiate them from standard upgrades.

NOTICE: Starsail will be run in two phases this year, as to not overwhelm people in combination with the expeditions! If you can not participate in Starsail this month, there will be opportunities to do so next month!

Seems that we've received a message from the stars...

"Hello everybody! Welcome to another wonderful year of Starsail festivities, and boy do we have a bunch of goodies for you all so prepare for a read!"

65-Happy-image.png

"The Ssael migration seems to have started! The migrations seem a bit sparse this year, but I also haven’t seen many with kits floating behind, so more are hopefully on their way!"

65-Unsure-image.png

"We did receive a strange message, and it seems like the Astralit friends we made last year won’t be around this time."

65-Excited-image.png

"A lot of townsfolk will be on expedition, so sadly not every stall will be open this year. We should still be able to have a great time though!”"

New upgrades

Some Finley that have participated in the Starsail stalls seem to be sporting some new upgrades.

For one reason or another, your character has chosen to stay where they are while the others are on expeditions. Luckily, they have Starsail to keep them occupied. Still, as your character makes their way through the stalls, a strange feeling worms its way into your Finley's chest. It's clear that this Starsail is not like how it always is; with many on expeditions it's awfully quiet. Staring at the sky, your character can't help but notice there isn't as many Ssael dotting the night sky as usual. The whole energy just seems to feel... Off.

Deadline for prompt submissions is June 31st, 23:59 site time.

Meanwhile in Xaaida...

The blizzard has not stopped, no sign of the summer sun to quell it. Fears for the survival of the Island spread amongst the villages, and the Elders work hard to keep everyone safe. The influx of magic users has been very helpful in aiding efforts.

teles_happy_l.png

"You believe me? I’m so relieved…"

teles_sad_n.png

"There’s so many strange things happening right now… What if I’d passed it off as nothing and it had come true?"

teles_happy_n.png

"You and I… We’re going to go on a journey up the mountain. We’re going to see for ourselves."

teles_sad_l.png

"Maybe it will be nothing. But I can’t just ignore my visions."

teles_determined_n.png

"If there is a monster preparing to attack, you and I- we’ll defeat it. We’ll protect the village. We won’t let it hurt anyone."

teles_determined_n.png

"An expedition will be dangerous, especially with this harsh storm that hasn’t seemed to let up."

teles_happy_n.png

"I think doing some research will be helpful!"

"I think Vahk’Asha should have all sorts of knowledge to share, but the library should have a bunch of interesting information, too..."

teles_neutral_n.png

"It'd be best to make sure we have all bases covered, Let's split up!"

"I'll talk to Vahk'asha while you can research in the library!"

teles_neutral_n.png

"And after that, we should make sure to gather some supplies."

"We should make sure to bring warm clothes, lots of food, and maybe bring some teammates to have some extra hands."

A New Guardian Appears...

Something is stirring in the grasslands, agitated by the void energy released from Hollow's escape.
It seems that Hyllis is active once again...

The Council is encouraging pilgrimages to the newly active Guardian in order to try to calm them.

May 2026 Newsletter

Welcome to another edition of The Flowering Star!

We are excited to announce the permanent lowering of pilgrimage requirements.

Starting today, the first two pilgrimage prompts will require 1 shaded fullbody, with a simple scenic background OR 775 words, and the final prompt (as well as repeat visits) will require 1 shaded halfbody character, complex background OR 1 shaded halfbody character + 1 shaded halfbody guardian, medium background OR 1275 words.

In addition to this, pilgrimages will now be tracked trough the questlines system. This should make tracking pilgrimage progress easier for members and staff alike!

Something is stirring in the grasslands outside of town...

With Hollow’s escape seems to have come a great wave of spiritual disturbances. Some townsfolk report strange sightings in the grassier areas on the outskirts of town. Some residents describe running into a small, mesmerizingly beautiful snake they’ve never seen before, while others report sightings of a massive beast whose gaze held them frozen in place before it slithered off and vanished into thin air.

The Guardian Spirits have been slightly unsettled lately...

The council is encouraging pilgrimages to hopefully calm the Guardians down some. With their supplies, pilgrimages to all spirits will temporarily be slightly easier. For the duration of this month, the first prompt completed counts for two! This means you can complete both stages of the "journey" section of a pilgrimage with one image! This image should still follow the standard requirements. The final prompt must be completed as normal.

Deadline for lowered requirements is May 31st, 23:59 site time.

Atlas
Are you ready to help mister Atlas and his good boy George make Washes?

In an attempt to distract the children (and less brave adults) from current events, Atlas is taking students for his class on wash making! He needs your help in creating Washes for his shop! He's looking for inspiration for washes to offer in his trading post.

The wash class is a series of three prompts, which reward items, access to upgrades, and an exclusive pog!

Additionally, after the class has concluded, Atlas will be picking some washes to officially add to the site!

A building has began construction within Whistler Crest. Newcomers that no one has seen before are busy working about, and after some time of rumors spreading through the town, the answer to what the building is becoming clearer.
A chapel.
What does your character think of it?

Meanwhile in Xaaida...

The weather is still frigid and harsh. Many islanders are growing worried about this year's long winter.

Zuggabug has become active, agitated by the cold and the ice and snow.

The elders are encouraging pilgrimages to hopefully calm Zuggabug down some.

Pilgrimages to Atmos may also be done with lowered requirements; but must be done in a "flashback" to when he was on the island during fall/winter!

Something has been stirring in the oceans...

... but not one islander has been able to get close enough to investigate.

To settle the children, Vahk’asha tells a story.

Varkasha_Serious.png

"Once, an injured child suddenly appeared in the West Isle Village, in the cold of a winter storm. They claimed to have been attacked by a beast twice the size of a Mountain Pieshu, and their mother had gotten separated. They pleaded with the villagers to help them, and a party of Xaaidans bravely forged into the forest, ready to help the child. One warrior, particularly touched by the child’s plight, gifted them a necklace as a promise that their mother would be found."

Varkasha_Sad.png

"However, when the warriors came to the spot the child led them to, they found no such battle, nor any signs that the child’s mother had been there at all. The winds began to howl, and a sudden squall left them struggling to see. The child disappeared, and the warrior who had gifted them the necklace tried to find them. From the flurries, a pale serpent with a glowing blue mouth full of rows and rows of teeth leapt at the warriors. They fought off the beast, and managed to survive. When the monster was slain, the snows vanished and all that remained where the monster stood was a pile of blue snow and, resting atop the pile, the necklace the child had worn."

Vahk’asha leans back, closing his eyes before looking at the small circle of villagers. His eyes settle on a particularly frightened looking Astralit and he places his hand on their shoulder before giving the group a small smile.

Varkasha_Happy.png
"How about something a bit happier for the next story?"

”Lately, I’ve been having dreams of a monster on the mountain…”

While you’re in the west village, busy about your tasks for the day whether they are important or not, a Nyulop in a woolen shawl approaches you.

"It strikes from the blizzard, tearing me apart… It was nothing like those giant birds… it was different— worse."

"The dreams are always very vivid… I think they’re visions of the future. I never have such vivid dreams, and they’re never reoccurring— I barely even have dreams at all."
