Introduction to Astralit Magic


Astralit, even more so than Draken and Nyulop, are a magical species. It is believed the ancient proto-Astralit were so powerful they strung the constellations themselves in the sky. When they were in the Above, Astralit were wanderers and travelers who required many magical abilities to traverse the stars, and these magical abilities continue within Astralit today.

Astralit are inherently born with magic: the magic of their Order. Astralit, although it is difficult to control their abilities, are able to exhibit their Order’s manifestations from a young age. As they grow, they grow into the second map of magic they are able to wield: Psychic.

Psychic magic is believed to be a direct gift from the primal cosmic entity that created Astralit themselves, gifted to the first Prophet and passed to all Astralit through the eons. This type of magic is learned as they grow, connecting them directly to their ancestors themselves.

Manifestations

Astralit’s magic is referred to as Manifestations. Astralit are aligned with three Orders: Light, Shadow, and Gravity. Within these Orders, the magical abilities Astralit learn are referred to as “skills” when it is the Order manifestations they are born with. The second map of magic, Psychic, is unlocked within them upon maturing into an adult, and these manifestations are called “feats.”

Young Astralit often have trouble controlling their manifestations. It’s easy for a young Gravity Astralit to accidentally pull in a delicate vase, or a Shadow Astralit to unintentionally darken a room. However, with a bit of teaching, they can learn to occasionally control it, though it will never fully be controlled until they have grown.

Appearance of Magic

When an Astralit casts magic, the appearance it takes depends on the type of manifestation they are harnessing. As an Astralit casts a manifestation from their Order, a magical effect emanates from their mana organs, taking on the color of their palm stars as it glows. These effects are depicted below, from left to right, Light, Shadow, Gravity.

Your depictions of the magic do not have to be exact, but they must be similar enough that it is immediately evident what Order the effect is. Once more, the effects take the color of your Astralit's palm stars.

As an Astralit casts a manifestation from Psychic, the Astralit’s palm stars and eyes glow together, a glow that is the color of the palm stars.

Psychic Vs. Order

What are the advantages of either type of Manifestation?

Psychic Manifestations are for connecting to the world around the user. The early Astralits used this type of Manifestation to communicate with many different species across the galaxies. It allowed them to cross the barriers of language, and made them excellent traders, negotiators, and other such occupations. It is also for travel. Astralits of the past used this to make their journeys easier.

Order Manifestations, on the other hand, are for protecting the user. From weapons to fight off attackers, to mobility, to defense, the different energies of the universe provide a means to keep Astralits safe. Order manifestations are also for utility, for building, for lighting homes. They can be versatile.

Both Manifestation types are important to Astralit, and many Astralit learn a multitude of skills and feats to be a well rounded magic user.



Growth of Palm Stars

As an Astralit progresses in their magical learning, a curious phenomenon occurs. Tales tell of elder Astralit with constellations across their bodies, and these tales are founded in truth. As Astralit begin to learn Manifestations, past the tenth Manifestation learned, new stars begin to grow on their bodies. Some theorize it is to harness more mana to take on more magical abilities.

These new stars are only visible when the Astralit is casting magic, and appear as if they are additional palm stars, glowing the color of the palm stars. At maximum, Astralit gain an additional ten stars, leaving them with sixteen total stars counting the ones on their arms. These stars are no bigger than the smaller palm stars that Astralit grow upon becoming an adult, and no smaller than the depicted in the image to the right. Beginning from the tenth Manifestation learned, Astralit grow new stars every new Manifestation learned. The stars may appear on an Astralit’s forearms, chest, or beside the eyes.

The Orders

An Order aligned with heat, brightness, and the searing rays of the sun. Astralit who master Light magic are often powerful fighters, aided by the numerous attack skills within the Order’s manifestations. Light magic also can be tricky and useful as a utility, from simple things to lighting a room, to signaling someone far away. It can be difficult and dangerous to master– and oftentimes tough on the eyes– but perseverance will grant you powerful abilities to take down even the toughest enemies.

An Order aligned with cold, secrets, and the obscuring presence of the dark. Shadow magic masters are often incredible healers, and staunch defenders. The Order’s skills manifest through powerful shields to guard the wielder and allies, and allow for trickery through the shade itself. It can be useful for recon, hiding the wielder in the dark, or for short transport. Shadow magic seems easy to master, but it is far from it; the shadows will easily slip through the learner’s grasp if the learner does not put the work in.

An Order aligned with force, weight from heavy to light, and the very pull of the planets themselves. Masters of Gravity are often powerful support fighters, and incredible at debuffing their opponents to prevent attacks. The Order’s magic takes the form of the force of gravity pushing or pulling, and attacks and shields that allow the wielder to decide how they want to move in battle. Gravity is very useful outside of combat, being a prime way to build or deconstruct. It can also be used to lift objects and creatures, or bring them to the ground, and Gravity Astralit can fly easily without wings. Gravity’s numerous possibilities make it an attractive magic to learn, but it’s one that takes a careful, patient hand, as the forces of gravity can be dangerous in an unskilled user.

The magic gifted to Astralit by their creator. Psychic magic is for connecting with the world around them, through emotions, through travel, through telepathy. These manifestations have made Astralit strong communicators and often put them in a position of leadership, advising, or even a simple trader. Psychic, unlike the magic of the primal energies, requires maturity, though like the Orders it requires patience. It is only when an Astralit reaches adulthood that they can begin to delve into this type of magic, but it will link them once more to the auras of the world they walk.

Learning Magic


Astralit hold incredible magical potential. Perhaps a gift from the ancients, Astralit can learn all skills and feats across the maps of their individual Orders and the map of Psychic magic. However, as a trade off, they are far more susceptible to Mana Burn.

Astralit may learn twenty (20) tiers of magic in total, ten from their Order's magic and ten from Pyschic.

To begin learning magic, you must have an approved adult application.

If your Astralit is slow-growing, all three palm stars must be fully grown to start learning magic.

⋆All entries require a complex background, with the character learning magic being a shaded full body. Each piece must be a fully finished, polished drawing.

⋆For each Manifestation learned aside from the first learned upon growing up, Astralit require a cooldown between learning each and every new skill or feat, in order to avoid burning out their Mana. The cooldowns are one (1) week between every Manifestation learned aside from the first ones learned upon growing up, and two (2) weeks between the next tier of linked Manifestations. This information is listed in the prerequistes of each skill and feat. This cooldown starts upon the magic entry's approval, and when the cooldown is up, the next image may be posted.

⋆If you have multiple characters learning magic, both must have their own separate magic entry; their learning cannot be combined
