Yew's Bend
Klaedon, Town
Yew's Bend
This town is quite small, located to the south of Whistler Crest. It is quite easy to find - just follow the river for a few days and look for the trees nearby. Housing is primarily earthen or simple shacks, made out of materials like earth, sod, and straw.
Throughout the expedition, the villagers seem to have opened up to the expeditioners. The last few days of the expedition were spent in a celebration dedicated to the expeditioners, dancing and chatting in the town. The children especially seem to have gotten quite attached, and many cling to the Crestians until the last moment, pleading for them to return later to play with them some more.
Living Houses
The houses in this town seem to be mostly made out of dirt and other earthen materials. From the outside, you can tell that some of the plants are used not only as decoration, but also as reinforcement, keeping the buildings sturdy.
Eventually, some of the Draken living here allowed the expeditioners inside their homes. Many expeditioners were shocked to find that these buildings contained very little to no inner structure at all! The walls of these houses are mainly made out of plant roots, or the trunks of trees, with packed dirt and clay mixed in to make for solid walls.
Those who guessed that Yew's Bend grew a lot of food were also correct! Besides the designated storage buildings, many buildings also contain store rooms or cellars. Seeing your confusion, some of the townsfolk explain that during winters, many neighboring villagers turn to them for food and herbs. Since there's only so many of them, they start stocking as early as spring to make sure they have enough to offer to other villages.
Giant mood rock
Once their parents loosen up, one of the younger kids grabbed the expeditioners hand and led them to a small clearing in the nearby forest. At first the Finley were confused why they were brought here, however many quickly realize the giant rock in the center. Upon closer investigation, a gaint orange mood rock sits in the center of the clearing. This explains where all those mood rock necklaces came from!
The Drakling explains that when a child in the village is born, they get their very own necklace from the big rock, and he seems proud to show his off!
Once the adults of the village notice you near the mood rock, they seem panicked, and (politely) shoo the expeditioners away. It doesn't seem like they are quite willing to share this tradition with them just yet. Some other adults seemed to feel bad, and offered some other mood rock necklaces to the expeditioners. They briefly explain that these were traded for with other villages, and less sentimental to them.
The Draken
Oddly enough, this town is composed exclusively of earth draken.
Nyulop and especially Astralit get some strange but curious looks from the locals. Most of the magic users here seem to excel at Flora magic. There's a wide variety of crops and plants being grown here.
While still reserved, many villagers have taken a liking to the expeditioners. Even though they still don't talk much about the town's more hidden features.
