Guinevere

Seeking the Isle Ocean Guardian
A pilgrimage for those who wish to connect to the ocean…

Guinevere

Many small statues dedicated to Guinevere can be found on the coast leading up to the Rocky island that holds Guinevere's shrine. Every single one is slightly showing signs of wear from the ocean's unforgiving movements, but still very well kept.

Based on the research discovered, Guinevere themselves is an old spirit that has been around far longer than many can perceive. They have an aura of wisdom and power as a result. They can be kind and mellow, but mess with the ocean and its creatures and you will find that there is far more than just kindness under that royal appearance. Guinevere is ruthless and merciless to those that have wronged them and breaking their trust makes it very hard to regain.

Despite this, Guinevere is a benevolent guardian. Watching over Xaadia and keeping Finley safe for ages, giving and receiving blessings in return for its protection. She is known to appear mainly during the summer, particularly when the sun shines the brightest and the skies are as clear as the freshest water. Travel down to her shrine and you may catch a peek at the benevolent spirit, the sea life blooming in response to her presence.

The Pilgrimage

This pilgrimage may be a bit dangerous for those unprepared for the wild waters. It is recommended that no child or pets not accustomed to the water are to accompany any adult on the way to Guinevere. The less to potentially get hurt the better. You may bring a Companion stone if you wish, though it may be unnecessary.

While no boat is needed to travel to the shrine (due to the slightly submerged rocky path that leads up to said shrine) it's recommended that you don't take said trek lightly. It is still surrounded by the depth of the sea and you can get swept away should you not pay attention.

Steps one and two of the pilgrimage both have a minimum requirement of 1 shaded full body and a simple scenic background OR 775 words.
Then, to commune with Guinevere in step three, you must meet ONE of the following requirements:

  • 1 shaded halfbody character + complex background OR
  • 1 shaded halfbody character + 1 shaded halfbody guardian + medium background OR
  • 1,275 words.
"It is of the utmost importance that you remember to be respectful of all Spirits when on this Pilgrimage. Fae spirits are always in communication with the Guardian of the area! Word travels quickly, so actions that may have caused grievance with a Fae, can very well cause grievance with their Guardian as well!"

Guinevere Statues

Leading up to the Rocky outpost shrine lies many small shrines dedicated to Guinevere and their glory. These shrines are tall and well kept by the residents of Xaadia and are used as a guide for those who wish to be blessed (or god-forbid cursed) by the lovely yet merciless guardian. These statues capture their elegance and their beauty while also maintaining their intimidating aura of a ruthless sea guardian.

The Wooden Shrine

Shrines dedicated to Guardian Spirits are known to exist in many locations. Much like the mysterious statues, it is unknown when and by whom these shrines were built. Guinevere's Shrine is pretty hard to miss even if you're unfamiliar with Xaadia. Located a bit ways away from the shores of East Isle Village lies said shrine. This shrine is surrounded by rocks and lies within a small pool of water created by the rock circle. Leading up to the shrine are wooden stepping stones slightly submerged by the sea. Tread with caution as the waters are unforgiving to the careless.

The shrines themselves are 90% wooden with stone pillars supporting the top. Water damage would be expected and yet the shrine still remains intact, looking the same year round with no significant wear.

The Water Altar

Traditional shrine altars have a very simplistic design. Usually they consist of a flat surface on a thinner slab of cut and smoothed stone, creating a table-like structure. Guineveres are made almost similarly, though they vary in appearance just a bit. They are all stone based, with two thick sturdy blocks, supporting a thinner straight smooth slab on top. A half broken altar window is located on the back of the altar, with a smooth round stone with the water mark carved on top of it.

When the Xaadian inhabitants discovered this shrine and its broken altar, they carved out this water plate to essentially replace it, thinking that it would not only aid in communication with the spirits, but would also bring them closer to Guinevere.

Typically the shrine is covered in many sea bearing items such as shiny gorgeous seashells, sea plants, and flowers alike, with the occasional custom made item from the inhabitants.

To be Blessed, to be Cursed

Should you desire to be Blessed...
There are three important tasks which must be done.

1. Find the prettiest seashells or flowers to bring to the shrine, or gather up some food to feed to the sea critters.
2. Get to cleaning! Clean up any and all trash you find in and around the shrine's waters, or use the food you have gathered and feed the sea creatures.
3. You must locate Guinevere during her active periods and present your offering, be it some remaining food you have, or the seashells and flowers you have collected.

Completion of these tasks will result in a Guardian's Blessing and one of the Blessed APs.

Blessing:
The Sea’s Gift: you have an easier time fishing and the sea life flock around you and may bring you gifts.

Should you desire to be Cursed...
There are three important tasks which must be done.

1. Trek up to the shrine.
2. You may decide to: toss all the trash you have on the ground, in the water, on the shrine, OR you can disregard the trash entirely and resort to attacking or otherwise harming the local seal life.
3. Locate Guinevere during her active period and stare her down amongst the damage you have caused. She will regard you, and may try to drown you for your transgressions.

Completion of these tasks will result in a Guardian's Curse.

Curse:
Wrath of the Sea: The waters are always rough and rapid when you are around, making it impossible to get in, as you will nearly drown.

Guinevere will not curse children, as they are young, don't know better, and are often mimicking adults.
