Super Duper Awesome Summer Hangouts In Ponds

Alpha and Delta were hanging out by Remy's stall, again.
They've been doing this for the past week, much to the earth draken's surprise, just going out and meeting up at Fish for a Wish and spending arguably more time than they need to there but hey; Remy seemingly didn't mind if it meant Alpha wasn't at her dark russet peer's throat for once in their lives. One sat in the water as the other was eying up his rods for the honest to god 15th time the past half hour, how much contemplation must one girlthing need to decide something as piss simple as what toy fishing rod to use for a toy fishing game.

Clearly, enough so that they'd pick each and every rod up just to feel the weight and texture in her palms. Raising an eyebrow at one, facial expression flat as a board for another, they were merticulously weighing them all against one another in critical calculated thought; even the ones meant for bigger hands weren't safe from her judgement... though Alpha did seem to struggle to keep them steady compared to the kid-sized ones. All the while Delta continued to chill in the fishing pool with a grin on his face, ever the daydreaming kind with not a care in the world as the clouds above rolled past his eyes; pleasantly sat with legs dangling off the side of the tub itself as he soaked the cooling moisture in with glee. He didn't even seem to care for whatever Alpha was doing, just pushing and prodding the occasional koblaine bobber and maybe blowing the odd couple of bubbles.

"Oi, Delta." Oh, seems Alpha was done chosing. "Get out of the way, will you?"
"Whaaat, but I'm comfy!"
"And I need to fish, so Get Out."
...So much for a peaceful ceasefire...

The blue-black astralit glared at him, her vibrant green, yellow, and a spot of red eyes narrowed with her contempt barely even hidden. They wanted to fish, and Delta was in the way of this; neither side seemed keen on budging either as for once Delta stood his ground even a smidge. Huffing humourously as he gripped the sides of the pond in defiance, smirking with a smart arsed tone as he spoke "Then make me, Alpha~". This shocked her, Delta didn't usually bite back at their remarks did he? Is she sure she's been hanging out with the right astralit, there can't be any other kid in town who looks quite like the one playfully raising his eyebrows at them right now surely? Delta totally thought he had this covered, that Alpha will realise she's being a prick and back off; a teasing taste of their own medicine before going back to the same old mostly complacent dunce that is Delta.

...Oh.
Oh she just grabbed him by the legs and dragged him out instead.
Growling and scowling sure, but by the spirits did they make quick work of it.

Leaving her "companion" stunned and on the grassy floor whilst they simply sighed and turned to the pond itself, ready to cast a line now that the obstacle has been removed from play; barely even caring for how Delta stared at her in awe as the water droplets dribbled down his sogged body in whatever way was fastest to the floor. He stood up and yet they still failed to falter, just chosing to snap with action over words contrary to the usual Alpha Delta experience. What a fascinating turn of events, he wasn't even too mad that the green-eyed astralit was so forceful with him, just amazed that she had the utter gall to do such a thing and still make an attempt at returning to calm after such.

"...What you doing anyways?"
Oh great, he's now peering over their shoulder. Dripping water onto her skin.
"...Fishing."
"What's fishing? I thought this pond was for-"
The stare they gave him, the honest to god point-blank stare.
"Delta, you have been going here for a whole week." She started, the venom in their voice barely withheld. "How the fuck do you now know this was for fishing?"

He stared dumbfounded for a moment, Delta knew he was brighter than he let on but he... he genuinely never considered the fact that this pond was for something other than super duper awesome summer hangouts in ponds. What a sobering moment for such a young fellow, should've known considering the fishing rods and the toy koblaines; Delta just thought those were fun decorations to add to the cool summer vibes in all honestly. No wonder Alpha was mad enough to brute force pull him out of there, having a person in the pond even at their size was a bit of a hindrance. Oh well, at least he could watch intently as they stood there carefully watching the water; sizing up the koblaines till she saw the right sliver of colour from underneath them as they bobbed along the surface...

"...Can you teach me how to fish?"
Ignore Alpha's groan for a moment, they were zoned in.
"Would teaching you get you to shut up?"
"Sure!"

She put her face in her palms for a minute, can't belive they have to teach this bloody loser, this utter dweeb of an astralit, how to fish of all things. In the toy fishing pond minigame designed for literal babies. She could swear even Simon, Kavalan's boy, has taken part in this one and he's like barely even capable of coherent speech baby. Though, no matter how much they grimmaced and grumbled over it Alpha was at least a girl of her word; pausing at the pond for a moment to grab him by the hand and somewhat forcefully lead him back to the rack they were musing over mere minutes ago. Gesturing to it unceremoniously after letting go to have a free hand.

"Aight, pick a rod."
"Any of them?"
"Yes, any of them. Do you think I'm as daft as you?"
"No, not nessecarily. I think you're quite smart actually!"
"Delta, just pick one before I die of embarrassment."

His hand gripped onto something red, a firey red with a gorgeous striped gradient into warming amber and then a toasty yellow, the sort of rod to match Alpha's health-hazard green and black tipped with streaks of warning yellow; two very different styles yet both felt like they were born to fish alongside one another. Quickly returning to Remy's pond to stand at the water's edge, staring down into the shallows as the bobbers cast their shadows into what lied below. The more snappy of the two giving Delta a glance and a small nudge to pay attention, she wanted him to need no further training on how to do this in future if they could help it. Would certainly give Alpha a break if the pair of them ever went fishing in future, especially since Alpha seems to enjoy this practice when her peer isn't being... himself.

"So, you hold your rod like this. Right?"
"Yeah? What then?"
"You cast it, like this."

How Delta followed suit impressed them, took a couple secconds to understand her movements but not even a minute after they had casted so did he. A quicker learner than she thought he would be perhaps, a relief they weren't expecting to have as she cracked the smallest littlest of smiles.
Maybe this wasn't going to be so bad after all.
