I wanna rush down to the water
The sun was glaringly bright, the sort of bright that makes your skin crawl from the sweat alone.
Serif, who was hot off springing some god awful jokes onto a gaggle of poor unsuspecting finley, wasn't taking the heat well; better than his thick-furred companions of course but still not great. It was just too hot of a day inside and out, shuffling through the streets of the town they could see all sorts of coloured comotions as people flocked towards the nearest points of shade they could cram themselves into. The unlucky few who couldn't simply sweltering in the sunlight and stewing in their own regrets of not being faster nor smarter, it was like Whistler Crest itself was feeling the burn.
Sure, it was only a couple hours till sundown so things were sure to get better... but by the spirits were they bad for the time being. Part of the short and stout water draken wished he was grown, purely from the relief that could come from spurting a refreshing jet of wet or two; now that'd truly beat the intensity of this heat! Either way, their hunt today was for two things and two things only; a nice cold treat, and some summer fun before the curtains closed on Starsail's final eve in just two days or so. Glancing around from stall to stall as it all just seemed to be melting bodies and agony wherever he looked, not a great sight at all no siree. Watching as a not-so-damp looking suiryn whined and wandered through the streets with wilting ears, seems the wildlife wasn't doing so hot either...
Perhaps they should follow it, just to make sure its alright? Indiscreetly shifting his steps in time with the little creature before it could notice the blue drakling tailing it, the pair meandering through the streets slowly but surely as its tail practically dragged itself against the very floor with how out of shape it seemed. Don't think Serif had ever seen it with an owner either come to think of it, nobody in town has owned a suiryn who looked quite like it to their knowledge; dark brown with paler stripes, red cheeks and bright blue eyes, though those eyes didn't look too happy in all fairness. Looked like the little beast was simply looking for a place to curl up and cool down away from the hustle and bustle of it all, thankfully unaware of how Serif followed its stumbling steps and trying not to gasp when it began to falter further. Nothing too worrying of course, just you know; somewhat flopping not too far away from the vibrant trappings of the Fish For A Wish stall against the side of some stall full of sweet treats that had regretably spent a little too much time in the sun for the liking of most folk.
All the more to give him an ample opportunity to approach, sure they were about as experienced with animals as the next kid {not much} but he knew at least to take it slow; give a couple slowblinks and show no sign of threat. Though they couldn't exactly tell whether it was a hit or the poor thing was simply too heat-striken to give a shit anymore, letting the water draken carefully scoop it up into his arms after chosing to tie their jacket around his waist; just so it couldn't catch anything on it of course. Next steps were uhh, to find someone with animal care under their belt; or at least a source of water that could do nicely. Maybe that stall with the pond would do? Serif could swear that Remy worked that one right, Remy's the local animal specialist after all so why not try it. Trudging over with the panting pet slumped in their arms and a look to his face that made Serif out to be way calmer than they were about this, though in all fairness his already laid-back attitude did wonders for keeping chilled about it all.
"Hey, you running this stall?"
"Oh, uh- yeah? Yeah, this one's mine. Why?"
"...Can I put it in the water?"
"Wha-"
The earth draken took a moment to properly look at the kid from over his stall table, ears jolting a little at the sight that lay before him; a dehydrated suiryn and the nonchalant drakling who was carrying it.
"I think it needs water, don't think Suiryns are meant to be in the heat. They need to be suir-wet~"
"Well, you're not wrong. Poor thing looks out of it."
Watching as Remy stepped out from his stall to crouch down to their level, giving it a check-over as one does with a clearly dehydrated animal before an idea seemingly popped into his head. Glancing at the rack of rods to the side of his stall and at the water draken who stood before him with muted worry for the beast, kinda wanted it back in his arms a little Serif did. It felt nice to hold.
"Hey, tell you what uhh..."
"Serif, Serif Fontaine."
"Alright, Serif, how about we go put this suiryn in the pond for now."
Shifting his movement towards the little water pool for his stall, perhaps using a hand to gently shove some of the bobbers out of the way as the younger draken followed suit. Curious as to what his older, earthly peer was up to when he carefully lowered the dark-brown pet into the water.
"And, you keep an eye on 'em by taking part in some fishing?" Grabbing a deep blue bubbly rod and handing it to him. "That sound good, that way you can have some fun whilst it recovers enough for us to go find who it belongs to."
...Serif thought about it, staring at the rod and then at the suiryn who was already looking better by the minute it was put in there. Sure, their idea of a sweet treat was still unfulfillfed... but for once in his life this wet little critter held a little more importance over an ice cream or so what. Staring back at it with a relaxed smile on their face as it laid there with just its eyes and ears peeking out of the water.
"Sure, sounds nice Mr. Think she'd like it too."
"She?"
"I dunno, she looks like a she to me."
Awh, headpats for the wet cat as he went to cast a line. Nobody tell Serif that Suiryns are intersex.
Serif finds a froggy kitty :D
