Sorest loser of all time
Chwith was bounding through the middle of town, gawping at all the new Starsail stalls that littered the sides of the path. For once the adults made them go right outside to enjoy the sunny weather, as opposed to keeping him indoors to keep them out of trouble, given a handful of capella and the request to entertain themselves with the festival that roared on with or without him. Glancing through the crowds to see if any particularly activity caught their eye, perhaps maybe one of the ones with sweet treats or handmade trinkets were more up his alley instead? Though their cash for those was... limited.
Hmm, what to do what to do. Man he wished he wasn't so small, maybe then they'd actually be able to see through all the hordes of people, never go out during the midday rush; honestly its a waste for a young kit like him and Chwith wasn't even a dwarf thank the spirits!
Excitable bounding turning to a frustrated huff, can't anyone recognise that theres SMALL-STATURED CHILDREN here???
Sure they weren't a toddler, nor was he exactly shorter than most of the young children here, just shorter than the bloody teens.
What teen thinks Starsail's cool anyways, most teens they've met brush it off as some overblown kiddie romp.
Amidst their grumping and griping, amongst the crowds of punters looking for a cheap thrill, he saw it. Within a fleeting sliver of finley-less view came a view of housemaster Vac, sporting her typical monsterous grin as she twiddled a pinnable ssael tail or two in-between her large paws; next to her sitting the most wonderful and large plush pikoo you have ever seen with your very eyes. With a soft minky base tie-dyed to the most gorgeous sunset tones and a plush night-sky navy mop of a mane upon its head, framing its butter-yellow horns and hiding gentle blue eyes underneath its locks.
They were infatuated with it.
Stopping in one's tracks only to walk towards it, shoving through legs and bodies to the best of his abilities. They had to get to this stall, and he had to win that pikoo plush if it was the last thing they did. Swear by the spirits and swear on his life, it will be theirs by the time he had to head back home. Wriggling and writhing as if the masses of bodies were adamant on refusing them his chance, oh the nerve they all had to try and stop them!
Pushing against the wave until he popped out with a stumbling fumble, almost falling over right into the line of young finley patiently waiting their turn at the housemaster's stall. Ears pricked for her booming crow of encouragement, for all who dared to watch to give Pin-The-Tail On the Ssael a go! Chwith could tell she was just begging for their participation in this stall, I mean with showmanship like that who wouldn't give it a go right?
...But uh. Well. Now he had to wait.
Tilting a head to peer down the line, sure it was only what? ...6 people ahead of them?
Can't be that bad right? Just gotta agonsignly stand there in anticipation, watching punter after punter take their sloppy {in his opinion} shots at shoving that pin into the board that'd been used so many times they swear you could see the lingering pin-holes from past attempts from here. Vac could proabably watch the moment where Chwith's eager excitement became utter mind-numbing boredom as his face melted in despair at the wait times, surely that drakling could've gone and done it faster right? Or that nyulop kit with the droopy ear, if they hadn't spent so long making sure the blindfold didn't hurt their "poor head". Oh and don't even get them started about the brown astralit with those glasses who treated such a painfully easy stall-game like it was defusing a god damn bomb!!!
Ughhhh!! He just couldn't take it, why was everyone taking eons??
"Aight, you ready there kid?" Vac asked, leaning over the edge of her booth's table to peer at the grey and blue kit. "Its your turn to pin~"
Oh, within the time it took them to brew his moody internal monologue; it became Chwith's turn.
Blinking at her for a moment, as if annoyed that she interrupted the sacred brood, only to beam at the colourful tail that sat limply in her extended paw. Finally, it was their time to shine! Snatching it with a confident kick to his steps, approaching that starry board teeth bared in a grin and grip tightening around the pinnable tail they now held; standing there with an excitable wagging tail regardless of how he tensed with their eyes shut. The older nyulop leaving her desk just to kneel down behind him, draping a blindfold across their eyes and tying it gentle but secure.
She gave him a pat on the shoulder once her work was done, the time was nigh...
"Alright kid, take your shot."
Chwith wandered forward, trying so hard not to stumble over their feet whilst also chosing not to dawdle, he was desperate to hold that Pikoo after all. Onlookers watching with baited breath at the kit's bold attempt, using paws and fur to try and judge just where the winning spots on the board were, as if that'd give them the upper paw against his peers. Feeling up every groove and pining hole till they found something that felt plausible, ignoring the quickly softened shouts from other children that Chwith was cheating as their mates hushed them in awe at his method.
Confidently lodging the tail in and stepping away with a smirk, they were sure to have won it now!
Hurriedly grasping and pulling at the blindfold to truly see his champion's handiwork, ready to boast and gloat to the crowd that watched; only for their triumphant and smug grin to falter as the urge to crow about it died within his throat.
...Chwith, in spite of their ego, had pinned it so far from any ssael.
So far that it was honestly laughable, he could even hear the subtle barely hidden chuckles from those who stood there waiting for them. Snout wrinkling, ears twitching, foot about to tamp with the rage of a child who not only lost but embarrased himself in front of the whole bloody town!
No wonder Vac hurriedly tried to usher them off to another stall with a handful of "You tried" sweets and a pat on the back, she didn't really have the time for the amount of yelling and screaming that erupted from his mouth, nor did her patient patrons...
Oh well, better luck next time?
