The Sand-sail part 2
– “Mom sure was right, the festival is empty” And you know what? It was… Last year the festival used to have hundreds of finley going around with the adults wearily running after their kids. Even the amount of companions roaming around was eerily small.
– “Atty, you know mom is never wrong” Arthemis released those words into the wild with pure annoyance… Mom would be so proud ♥ “She said something boring about ‘eshpeditions’, whatever that thing is… So, what stall are we going first?” Two pairs of nyulop ears now looking at Eeva, who barely shrugged as an answer.
– “Why don’t we go to the dig stall first? It’s still open!” Slowly backing away and glancing at Arty she continued on talking before bolting to the stall – “Plus you could use a bath you stinker!”
– “Athena, come back here! I’ll bury you alive” He jerked into a full sprint before digging with all paws into the ground for a hard stop. Eeva was slowly coming along, trying to hide her face on the ruffled up neck fur… The idea of playing with sand wasn’t that inviting, but at least she could watch.
Upon the pair reaching the stall, Athena was just finished and was... holding a small rock? Was that a prize? It was still covered in sand as she spun and tossed it in the air.
“See? You guys can’t compete with me! You starslugs took so long I completed my turn!”
In the middle of cleaning his paws he noticed the spinning object, prompting him to facepaw – “Athena… That’s a rock, that’s not a fossil.”
– “Nuh uh! It’s a mineral, you hammin! You only see a rock ‘cause it resembles your brain.”
– “Oh yeah? I’m gonna find something better!” and with that along the mandatory stretch, the dark-furred blur jumped onto the dig box, ravaging through the sand with all his four tiny paws. Claws tossing sand everywhere as he slithered in the dig box, particles and clumps of sand starting to get on his fur as the dust was starting to raise in the air, much to Eeva’s horror, who was first visibly disgusted at the sight but now horrified that the crystal-like grains were being splashed on her, stretching one of the paws and looking away to avoid more damage on her fur. Athena also got a faceful of sand, which was properly aimed at her, with the rest being sprinkled on, or around, her legs.
– “N got ie! E eoa it!” - Arty emerged victorious, with what appeared to be a faux bone in his mouth, completely breaded in sand with his tail worsening the situation for everyone - “Ah Ah! I aold you I caomd eo it!”
The whole ordeal seemed neverending, to Eeva at least, but it lasted only a couple of seconds… As the bone fell in the sand again and Arty realized what had been done, it was too late. Eeva was looking at him, the red fluster showing under the fur along with a deep, angry frown, her breathing progressively going into hyperventilation, her floaty ears trembling, the closed paw shaking in built up anger, ears starting to bead on her eyes…
Eeva stomped her foot in the ground, she didn’t need to say much, not like she was a girl of many words either, but there was no need with how caked of dust she was looking.
She turned around and left to roam around the festival, completely defeated with what just happened. The siblings let out an ‘Uh oh’ and decided to scramble, with them looking for adults to get a brush and some cloth to clean the dust out of their fur, but mainly out of Eeva’s.
It took a second but they managed to grab the supplies and began searching for the now-tri-color-nyulop, which was quickly found sitting on a bench looking somewhat depressed. They slowly came to an approach, not only to avoid startling her again, but because they were unsure of how to resolve the situation…
Arthemis usually don’t look at finley in the face, but it was necessary this time. You could see the sadness in Eeva’s lavender eyes, as much as the regret in the siblings’ – “Eeva, we’re sorry we tossed sand at you, we should’ve been more careful”
– “Yeah it was all my broth- eerhm” – in a moment of clarity Atty decided to not make things worse – “It was my fault for teasing him to be competitive…”
Pushing Arty forward he asked, his feet tracing the ground while ashamed of how he'd been treating so far “Would you let us clean you and fix this mess? Please?”
