A difficult choice to make

"But you can't! We can take care of this egg I promise!"

Arlos plea came out desperate, which only tore at Vacs heart even more. He had watched the two Nyulop children for a few hours before he decided to step in, and even in that short amount of time it was clear to him how much they cared for the egg. But care wasn't the only thing that mattered when it came to raising children, that much Vac knew for sure.

"Arlo.. Julian.. I know this is hard, but children can't raise children. The best thing you can do for this egg is to take it to a family who can give it everything it needs." Vac reached for the egg, but Julian stood firmly before his friend and held his arms out wide. 

"We can do that! I'll get a job, I'll make money and I'll buy Arlo and our egg everything it could ever want! You'll see." Julian scowled up at Vac, his tail puffed up in anger and his ears twitching irritably.

But at the end of the day, none of this prevented the egg being taken. Nothing prevented Arlo from breaking down in tears while Vac walked off, and nothing could stop the heartache that Vac felt for the two children who thought they were doing the best they could.
