Nodel sat on the soft grass beneath him, watching as the sunset slowly gave way to the twilight. A group of Finley had gathered alongside him, curious to hear the tales he brought from beyond the stars. To the Finley’s surprise, he began his performance not with words, but with a beam of magic from his left hand, shooting out wisps of magic that ebbed and flowed around the crowd, dancing around them as the clusters of shadow began to take shape.
From daring adventures to comedic fables, whatever stories Nodel told, the magic he controlled formed shadow-like puppets that followed along every step of the way. He gently scooped up some young Astralits who tried copying his movements, encouraging them to tell their own stories; and making new puppets to match whatever their imagination could think of. The stories lasted long into the night, with more and more Finley chiming in with their own tales, or young Shadow Astralits practicing their magic, determined to match Nodel’s mesmerizing technique.
On the Islands, Nodel’s method wasn’t much different, however he stressed to the young Stars the importance of carrying down their stories to the next generations, seeing as they were the first Astralits to be found on the Isle of Xaaidia. Much like the stars themselves would illuminate Finley for countless lifetimes, so too would their stories connect them to those who came before, and those who will come after, and how valuable it was to keep that culture alive and well.
